Twitter Beef or Twitter Chicken

Who loves good banter or Twitter beef? The answer is everyone. We love when rival companies or competitors roast each other on social media platforms. It allows everyone to have a good wholesome laugh and share their own opinions on who they think is most correct. I also love how it is based on almost no facts, but rather fueled by bias fans of the places. I think food companies do it best and even fast food restaurants, as they always deliver. (Get it?) I love a good pun and hopefully you all enjoy them too or this might be a long semester.

Anyways, I want to focus on a specific social media Twitter beef incident that happened recently between three fast food places involving the famous meal that is the glorious "Chicken Sandwich." Commonly being referred to as the "Chicken Sandwich War" It started with Popeye's releasing a tweeted photo of their new chicken sandwich with the caption "Chicken. Brioche. Pickles. New. Sandwich. Popeyes. Nationwide. So. Good. Forgot. How. Speak. In. Complete. Sandwiches. I mean, sentences." Now the other companies with chicken sandwiches just could not miss the opportunity to contest this claim. Chick-fil-A hopped in first to mention how their sandwich was the original and therefore the best one. Following this claim, Wendy's pointed out that these two fools were just fighting to see who had the second best chicken sandwich and that their dish was clearly the best. A lesser known player, Shake Shack entered the field by simply saying you knew where to find a chicken sandwich without all the beef which is just a brilliant play on words to be honest. The best part of all this though might actually be the replies they gave each other which were savage and very funny. Popeye's asked Chick-fil-A if they were okay and then roasted by Wendy's by saying they must have had one of their signature biscuits because their tweet was looking thirsty. Wendy's got them back by saying their food must be as dry as their jokes.

I love fun debates and insults like these when it is mostly out of fun.Personally, I think Popeye's won this interaction but bonus points for Shake Shack being the most clever. Also, to state my opinion on the matter as far as best chicken sandwich, I would have to go with Chick-fil-A. Let me know in the comments what sandwich you though was the best and if you enjoyed the banter too.

How to Optimize Whatever You Want

The book "The Art of Social Media" will be the topic of many of posts on here and I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you all on the readings as I progress through the book. Today I want to complain about some parts of Chapter 1: "How to Optimize Your Profile" and how the author does not understand our generation well enough. In points three and four, he wants us to use one photo for everything and have it focus on our face. I get why that might seem like the move in regards to looking professional or establishing a brand for ourselves but I think it depends on the situation. Our generation loves to take pictures and share experiences more, so being professional or memorable is not always our main goal when it comes to using social media.

I love dogs and sports teams so I like to mix up my avatar from time to time to be something related to those categories instead of just me all the time. I am not embarrassed of my face but it does not seem like a necessity to have my face as a profile image everywhere to help grow my social media. Our generation loves funny people and follows people for a variety of reasons. If someone is unsure of my profile actually being mine from platform to platform just because the avatars are different then they can always confirm with me and ask if that is me before following. I understand the one photo idea but that seems kind of boring to me and makes it tough to choose which photo is the best one to select for all of my social media outlets. I want people to see different sides of me and to get a certain vibe from each avatar they see on my various social media platforms.

I wonder if the author thinks business and metrics are all that matters when it comes to perfecting social media because I think people use it for many reasons. Some people just want to express themselves and others just want a place to escape or vent. My Twitter page is a lot more silly and full of dogs compared to my Facebook page. My Facebook page is more tame and safe as I use it to update my family on my life in a responsible way. Also, my Instagram profile changes avatars constantly as I usually like to make it a profile image of me and my girlfriend or of me and my dog. Overall, I find it best to let each person optimize whatever the hell they want in their social media, hence my title. Let me know in the comments if you agree or disagree and thanks for reading.

Tennis, Tennis, and More Tennis

My social life at Ohio Northern University revolves around playing and watching tennis. I love the sport and am always playing on campus or watching highlights on various medias. For my first blog I want my readers to understand how important this sport is to me and how much I enjoy it. In case you have not noticed yet, the title of my blog is a tennis reference and there are more throughout my layout.

I played four years of tennis at ONU and I received second team all-conference honors my sophomore year. I played second singles and third doubles for the team. I have won many matches and I am very proud to be a polar bear and represent my school. I am not able to play this year but I still intend to support my teammates when I can. I believe the tennis team can win the whole conference this year which is something that alluded me when I was on the team. However, I am still thankful for my time playing and look forward to hitting with the guys this fall semester. I honestly think I can still keep up with them and I am excited to give them a challenge in my free time.

On a final note, I would like to mention that the U.S. Open tennis tournament is going on right now and how entertaining it is to watch it in the opening weeks of the fall semester here at school. I no longer have cable at my house so coming to campus allows me to watch the tennis tournament for free which is really cool. I love going to watch parties with my teammates and cheering on our favorite players. This tournament is one of the four majors in professional tennis and is the only one that happens in the United States. The American in me loves this experience even more because of this and I always want the local players to perform well. Novak Djokovic is the heavy favorite to win it all this year, but I love rooting on the underdogs and seeing all the chaos unfold. I highly suggest checking it out on your television if it might interest you and to comment on this blog if you want to talk more tennis with me!
